NMSU is New Mexico's land-grant and space-grant institution, a comprehensive research institution dedicated to teaching, research, public service and outreach. The City of Las Cruces is the second largest city in New Mexico and is located in Doña Ana County, approximately 45 miles north of El Paso, Texas, and 225 miles south of Albuquerque. Las Cruces is the economic and geographic center of the Mesilla Valley, the agricultural region on the floodplain of the Rio Grande which extends from Hatch to the west side of El Paso, Texas. The Organ Mountains, 10 miles to the east, are dominant in the city's landscape, along with the Doña Ana Mountains, Robledo Mountains, and Picacho Peak. Las Cruces lies within a short driving distance of the Mexican border at Santa Teresa, as well as many other locations in the broader borderland region.

Duties and Responsibilities: 1) Teach one or more courses, at NMSU main campus or online; 2) Conduct one (1) office hour per week for each course taught at the campus where the class is held; 3) Meet administrative deadlines and requests for student data/assessment as assigned by the Division, School, and College; 4) Attend relevant department meetings each semester (virtually; face-to-face); 5) Participate in Professional Development through the NMSU Teaching Academy and portfolio process for part-time faculty; 6) Other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Minimum requirement is a Master's degree (conferred before beginner instruction) or equivalent in education from an accredited institution; a Master's degree (conferred before beginning instruction) in closely related degrees may be considered in combination with a minimum of two semesters of higher education experience in lower-division courses.

Preferred Qualifications (optional)

Preferences given to those with: 1) a conferred doctoral degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Learning Technologies, and/or STEM education from an accredited institution; 2) Demonstrated working knowledge of current developments in curriculum and instruction; 3) Demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of teaching methods including lecture, collaborative learning, online practices, and individualized instruction; 4) Ability to relate to an instruct a non-traditional, diverse student population; 5) Demonstrated ability to relate and explain complex subject matter for different academic levels

Special Requirements of the Position

MA Degree in Educational Learning Technology or related field. One-two years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.

Special Instructions to Applicants

This is a temporary appointment with pre-determined employment dates. Temporary employees have no entitlement or expectation of continued employment during or beyond the appointment period. Position may average 10 hours per week. Applications for fall teaching assignments must apply by May 30. Spring teaching assignments must apply by September 15.
