POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Technology Foundations, Instructor - Part Time Support

Named the Technical College of the Year in 2021, The Tennessee College of Applied Technology – Shelbyville is now accepting applications for the part time position of Technology Foundations Instructor.


The Part time Technology Foundations Instructor works under the supervision of the vice president and is primarily responsible for providing support to the Technology Foundations Instructor in the areas of essential reading, writing and math skills to prepare students to succeed in their chosen program of study.

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to: conducting individual student assessments and developing individualized plans to correct deficiencies; administering/proctoring tests for students and outside organizations. This position is a part time position working less than 20 hours per week for 10 weeks. Position does not have employee benefits.

Required Qualifications Bachelor Degree in education or related field Minimum of three (3) years of practical experience teaching essential reading, writing, and math skills Evidence in instructional program management and supervision Ability to be certified, as required, to administer tests within one (1) calendar month of hire date Must commit to remain certified to administer tests

Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications Experience with ACT Work Keys Technical College experience preferred SKILLS USA experience preferred Teaching and technical training curriculum building a plus

Knowledge Skills Abilities Must have good organizational and planning skills Must be self‐motivated to complete tasks on time Must have proficient oral and written communication skills Must have a high level of computer skills including, but not limited to, tutorial programs and network management with the ability to utilize computer systems to deliver instruction. Experience with D2L a plus Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.

Typical Duties Assist with leadership and activities of various student organizations; Maintain accurate student records; Assist other faculty members with curriculum development as needed; Assist with recruitment and placement of students; Some travel may be required Other duties as assigned
