Job description
Technology Enhanced Learning Support (TELS) Manager Grade 7 (£35,333 - £42,155)
Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. We have made our mark with high-quality, well-directed teaching and research, and a stimulating and enriching experience for our students.
The University's Technology Enhanced Learning Support (TELS) team plays a key role in helping to support the delivery of the University's Digital and Learning Enhancement Strategies for 2020-25, with priorities including embracing technologies that have the potential to offer a more flexible, personalised, and inclusive learning experience for all our students.
The University now seeks to appoint a TELS Manager . This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Learning Technologist or Instructional Designer to take on a management and leadership role.
Reporting to the Head of Learning Services you will lead our TELS team, planning the delivery of the team's activities, and managing competing priorities and user expectations. You will ensure that key team and service objectives are delivered while providing expert technical input into projects and initiatives that make innovative use of new learning technologies.
A strong technical skillset is required, as you will be expected to balance leading the team with hands-on delivery of services and support.
But equally important are strong leadership skills, a proactive customer- focused approach, and excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage, liaise and negotiate effectively with a diverse range of staff across the University.
Approachable, positive, and enthusiastic, you will have extensive knowledge of a range of appropriate software tools used to support technology-enhanced learning across all modes of delivery, as well as knowledge of pedagogy in relation to the use and support of educational technologies in a higher education environment.
The successful candidate will have proven, extensive hands-on experience in supporting users to make the most of the capabilities of a range of technology-enhanced learning tools and will have previously made a significant contribution to the successful delivery of TEL projects, initiatives, and staff training.
