  • Position Summary

    Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a full-time Research Technician B to join an RNA viruses lab at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center (ADARC). The incumbent will report to the Principal Investigator.

    Responsibilities

  • Assists Research Scientists and Principal Investigator (PI) in laboratories

  • Performs virology, tissue culture and molecular biology assays

  • Oversees the integrity of the equipment

  • Maintains the integrity of the laboratory database

  • Collaborates with the overall function of the laboratory and its workflow

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Research Scientist and/or Principal Investigator

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Working experience with mammalian cell tissue culture

  • Working experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques such as PCR, DNA cloning and western blotting

  • Other Requirements

  • Highly responsible, independent, passionate and self-driven with a background in molecular biology, cell culture and biochemistry

  • Well organized and good time management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required

  • Must be able to work in an orderly manner and in accordance with all safety regulations
