Technical Officer in the Department of Emergency Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 523713) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)
The Department of Emergency Medicine is building a team of cross-disciplinary clinical and non-clinical scientists to research the grand challenges of this age in acute illness, injury and emergency health service delivery. Our programmes will address unmet clinical needs in translational research in emergency medicine. We aim to understand the underlying mechanisms of acute disease, to discover novel clinical and molecular markers, and to develop pragmatic diagnostic and risk-stratification pathways. Our long-term goals lie in primary prevention, screening and therapeutics.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or above, with at least 2 years' relevant work experience in cell/molecular biology laboratories, and preferably with experience in animal work and immunology. They should be hard- working, well-organized, responsible, and self-initiated. They should also have good problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team.
The appointee will assist in laboratory housekeeping and general maintenance, manage consumable supplies, provide technical support, and perform other duties as assigned. Information about the research team can be found at https: // emed.med.hku.hk.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
