Job description

As a technician you will be part of the research team working on the MULTISEAL project within the Building Physics Research Group of the department of Architecture and Urban Planning. The goal of the MULTISEAL project is to bring an innovative concept to seal building joints watertight to the market. Since rainwater ingress in the building envelope is still one of the main causes of premature building deterioration, optimizing the watertightness of the building envelope is crucial and innovative products are needed. Do you want to be involved in the further development of this innovative concept? Do you want to roll up your sleeves and learn more about air- and watertightness of buildings? We are looking for a fulltime technician who will be (co-)responsible for the lab and fieldwork related to the MULTISEAL project. As a technician you will be involved in the following tasks:

  • You make prototypes based on the MULTISEAL technology.
  • You adapt existing lab setups and build new setups according to the need of the research and assemble test elements which can be used for field testing.
  • You conduct air- and watertightness tests in the Test Centre for Façade Components.
  • You follow up the performance of the test elements exposed to real weather conditions in-situ.
  • You report the results obtained from testing.
  • You provide technical support when external tests are conducted or when test setups are built at other locations.
  • Next to these tasks, you may be involved in other ongoing research projects of the Building Physics Research Group when practical or technical support is needed.
