An exciting opportunity exists to join the Warwick Foundation Studies department in the role of Teaching Fellow on our Computer Science based modules. With over 30 years of experience in the pre-university sector, the Warwick International Foundation Programme has successfully enabled thousands of students from across the globe to successfully prepare for their university studies.

Our academic programmes are designed to support students' academic, English Language and extracurricular development and enable access to undergraduate programmes at the University of Warwick and other leading UK institutions.

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

To contribute to delivery and teaching of the Computer Science, Mathematics and Inquiry and Research Skills modules to international students enrolled on the University of Warwick International Foundation Programme.

To convene a designated module.

To support and enable the department to achieve its teaching and learning objectives, through the delivery of pedagogical best practice and innovative teaching methods.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To contribute to pre-university teaching within the department, in particular through the teaching of Computer Science, Mathematics and Inquiry and Research Skills modules available to students within the Warwick Foundation Studies department.

2. To deliver seminars, lectures, other classes and revision activities as appropriate, in support of the required teaching obligations.

3. To collaborate with members of the department to enhance and sustain course delivery and to promote and encourage pedagogical best practice and the employment of innovative teaching methods.

4. To develop teaching materials, methods, and approaches with guidance from colleagues within the department. To ensure teaching methods and materials remain up-to-date and relevant and reflect and incorporate latest advances in the teaching of Computer Science, Mathematics and Inquiry and Research Skills to non-Native English speakers.

5. To ensure student feedback is sought on delivered content and that such feedback is considered in the review and revision of course content and delivery methodology on an ongoing and annual basis.

6. To provide pastoral support to a group of students through structured group sessions and one-to-one meetings.

7. To undertake academic duties (e.g. marking and feedback, and invigilation) required to sustain the delivery of high-quality teaching.

8. To support and comply with University and departmental teaching quality assurance standards and procedures, including structured observations of teaching and peer observations.

9. To undertake such departmental roles and management functions as may be reasonably required by the Head of Department or their delegate.

10. To participate in a schedule of CPD activities that develop personal and professional skills.

11. To undertake a range of administrative duties applicable to the module(s) taught, including but not limited to: attendance-taking; recording meeting attendance; and updating module websites.

Essential Criteria 1

2:1 Honours Degree in a relevant subject area; postgraduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in the field. (a)

Breadth and depth of specialist and up-to-date knowledge of Computer Science and Mathematics. (a, c)
