Teaching Associate in Hebrew and Aramaic (Fixed Term)

The University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint a full time Teaching Associate in Hebrew and Aramaic within the Hebrew studies section of the Department of Middle Eastern Studies.

Key activities associated with the role include:

  • Teaching Classical Hebrew and pre-modern Aramaic at undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Supervising undergraduates and Mphil. students.
  • Assessment and examining.
  • Participate in institution's meetings and undertake some administrative duties, as commensurate with the grade of the role.
  • Student recruitment and admissions
  • Applicants must have:

  • PhD in the field of Hebrew, or equivalent demonstrable experience and/or a teaching qualification as appropriate.
  • Ability to teach Classical Hebrew and pre-modern Aramaic.
  • Preferably also knowledge of Modern Hebrew.
  • Preferably some experience of successfully developing and delivering teaching at university level.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The funds for this post are available until 30 September 2024 in the first instance. The start date is as soon as possible after offer of the job.
