YOUR TASKS

  • You will assist in the practice-based teaching at the department (i.e. organization, counselling and assessment of practical exercises and seminars), specifically the course Human rights legal clinic & Migration law (section human rights).
  • You provide guidance to master theses in the field of Human rights law.
  • You contribute to the service delivery of the department.
  • WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a degree of Master in Law or an equivalent degree. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
  • You are involved in other professional activities and/or you have demonstrable experience that may contribute to the quality of the practice-based teaching in the human rights Law Clinic, for instance as a lawyer or an NGO staff member or volunteer, or you have experience with a legal clinic or a comparable initiative.
  • You have a thorough knowledge and preferably a practice-based experience in the field of international human rights law and/or Belgian and Flemish anti-discrimination law.
  • Experience in a teaching assignment in the field concerned is recommended.
  • Familiarity with middle field organizations active in the domain of human rights law is recommended.
  • You have an excellent active and passive knowledge of Dutch and French, and a good active and passive knowledge of English.
  • WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a one-year appointment which may be renewed indefinitely for five years at a time. Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University.
  • Your appointment will start on 1 September 2021 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP3. More information about our salary scales.
