Position Title Teaching Assistant, Education

Type of Position Other Job Description Summary

The Education Program at Barnard College is currently seeking a Teaching Assistant for the courses titled Multicultural Elementary Pedagogy (EDUC BC 3053) and Multicultural Secondary Pedagogy (EDUC BC 3054). Note: These courses run concurrently in the same space with overlapping curriculums, so the experience will be the same as being a TA for one course that has differentiated instruction. The courses engage pre-service teachers in developing effective strategies for teaching in ways that draw upon five specific domains of knowledge: knowledge of self, content, pedagogy, context, and students. Students will be introduced to a variety of teaching approaches and develop ways to adapt them to teach various subjects to students in urban public school settings. Students will learn to write lesson plans, develop assessments, and practice teaching in “microteaching” sessions taught to peers.
