The Systems Integration Specialist reports to the Director of Enterprise Applications and provides support to the overall ecosystem of technology systems at the University of New England. This individual works with both current and emerging 3rd party systems by providing support and oversight in developing and maintaining integrations including API-based data exchanges between interconnected systems and authentication with Single Sign On (SSO).

The Systems Integration Specialist is responsible for participating in the requirements analysis and decomposition, design, development, internal testing, and documentation of processes and procedures related to our overall systems' architecture.

Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting existing integrations and providing technical support to our onsite and external application support team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain services used in application integrations.
  • Design, implement and document all integration solutions in accordance with industry standard best practices.
  • Work with our internal and external applications team and with third party vendors to architect, design, build, and implement application integrations.
  • Develop and maintain data integration components such as SQL queries, stored procedures, data extraction and cleansing, and integration with system front end components.
  • Develop and maintain automations for integrations built on various technologies.
  • Develop integrations keeping disaster recovery and business continuity goals and infrastructure in mind.
  • Generate SQL code to retrieve appropriate data as derived from requirements.
  • Build reports and/or data extracts to support business analysis, ETL procedures, and data feed associated with upgrades and backup and restoration.
  • Support development on resolving system defects, acting as liaison, and developing solutions.
  • Actively work with third party systems to identify upgrade paths and project manage timelines that meet the needs of the programs and operational units for the university.
  • Coordinate directly with academic units and programs best understand and analyze business specifications and needed integration paths.
  • Provide technical assistance to troubleshoot and resolve integration errors.
  • Other duties as applicable.
  • Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other appropriate discipline, plus five years or more of IT integration experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

  • Demonstrated strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to follow procedures and resolve exceptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and document software solutions.
  • Prior experience working with ERP solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in XML, and experience with PHP, Python or related language.
  • In depth knowledge of PL-SQL, Oracle
  • Outstanding knowledge of Okta Integration Technologies, SAML, LDAP, Active Directory, SWA
  • Demonstrated Experience with database tools such as Toad or SQLDeveloper; Integration Architecture, and best practices.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Automic Automation
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery and business continuity concepts and technologies at the application level
  • Experience in structured release and deployment best practices.
  • Demonstrated development experience with Java language.
  • Demonstrated experience writing Web Services, RESTFUL, or SOAP, as well as experience writing fault-tolerant code.
  • Project management experience.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills with strong sense of customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work in a team with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Solution oriented with a high sense of quality, attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency, and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Team player who is also able to work independently and handle conflicting priorities while maintaining consistent, quality performance standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines and prioritize effectively, while delivering high quality work.
  • Demonstrated success managing information across to team members and advocate for practicing good followership.
