About the Role The School seeks to appoint a fixed-term Subject Coordinator (Teaching Associate – part-time teaching only) with the capacity to teach in the area of Creative Writing. The successful applicant will be a committed and engaging educator.

In this position, your primary responsibility will be the coordination of teaching activities such as lectures and seminars/tutorials and the preparation and delivery of these classes CWRI30014 ‘Advanced Screenwriting' semester 1 and CWRI20009 ‘Writing for Screen' in semester 2 in accordance with the Faculty's Local Operating Rules. The Subject Coordinator reports to the Head of the Program.

This is part-time teaching only position.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • undertake subject coordination duties including the development of LMS sites and subject guides, the management of assessment extension request and the selection and supervision of sessional tutors, as required
  • prepare assessments in accordance with subject guidelines and coordinate assessment processes
  • undertake consultation with students
  • manage breaches of academic integrity referred by tutors
  • resolve student issues referred by tutors or escalate to the relevant Head of Program
  • conduct lectures, seminars/tutorials in a blended mode to a high standard
  • About You A confident communicator with strong attention to detail, you will have a strong customer service focus and the ability to take initiative and work flexibly in a changing environment. A natural rapport builder, you will have the ability to work as a collaborative team member with the capacity to develop and maintain productive working relationships.

    Ideally, you will further have:

  • completed a Doctoral or Masters qualification in the relevant discipline or equivalent relevant academic or professional or practice-based experience and expertise.
  • adept in curriculum and subject material development
  • experience in supervising, coaching, and supporting staff and fostering an effective teaching team
  • capacity to teach diverse groups of students in a range of delivery modes
  • experience using a range of pedagogical methods including creative writing workshopping;
