Study Support Advisor – English Language Support Study Support Team

The Study Support Team

The UWL Study Support Team provides students with academic support, English Language Support and Maths and IT support through one-to-one appointments and study skills workshops. The Study Support Team also have responsibility for the coordination and delivery of Pre-sessional English courses and for Functional Skills Maths and English courses (L1 and L2) which are delivered to UWL apprentices and GLA funded candidates.

The Role

Working within the Study Support Team, the postholder will be required to provide English Language Support to help students improve their understanding and academic writing skills, to improve confidence and give them the confidence to succeed in a higher education environment. In addition, the post holder will also support students to develop their academic skills in line with the wider work of the Study Support Team.

The Person

You must be qualified to at least honours degree level with experience of teaching, preferably within an HE setting. You will also need to be confident delivering support online as well as in person. You will need to able to develop highly effective working relationships with staff and students and be willing to explore new initiatives to enhance the students confidence and abilities. The successful candidate would need to be willing to support English language courses, if required.
