Department Description

The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center. The Center's mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and the nation through research, treatment, training and outreach. UNC Lineberger's Cellular Therapy POD is a centralized resource that supports the clinical research efforts of Lineberger investigators, primarily through the design and conduct of therapeutic clinical trials. The POD provides administrative, regulatory, data management, and study coordination services to investigators throughout the development, approval and implementation processes of protocols conducted at UNC and its affiliate institutions. The POD is responsible for protecting the safety of patients participating in research, ensuring the quality of the research, and safeguarding the interests of the University. It also furnishes protocol-related information to health professionals and to the community at large.

Position Description

The purposes of this position are administration of oncology clinical trials, including subject and data management, and training of staff. The position will be responsible for recruitment, screening, eligibility, and registration of research Subjects. Eligibility assessment of oncology patients requires both full knowledge of research regulations and strict adherence to individual trial procedures. In addition, based on knowledge of GCP and research protocols, the chosen individual will identify and modify research methodologies to meet research objectives as they relate to data collection, reporting, and analysis, creating and documenting Data Management Plans for multiple complex trials.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of GCP and ICH Guidelines and ability to follow established regulations, procedures, and protocols; strong computer skills; demonstrated ability to gather data and document procedures; demonstrated ability to plan work and coordinate multiple projects; demonstrated ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

Research experience preferred. Oncology and/or chemotherapy experience on an oncology unit or in an oncology clinic is preferred. CCRC or CCRP is preferred. Nursing license preferred.
