Position Summary

Job Summary

The Biology Department is working with Snyder County Children and Youth Services on filling this grant funded, temporary, summer intern position. The summer intern will be supporting all aspects of child welfare case referrals including intake and general protective measures. This position is considered non-exempt by FLSA standards.

Specific Responsibilities

Must be able to participate in a detailed orientation to the Agency regarding their policies, services, goals, purposes and clientele

Participate in the active work and review of no less than 3-5 active cases each week.

Participate in specially assigned task projects including but not limited to:

The Family Engagement Initiative

Families Are Worth It Campaign

Creation of a resource booklets for clients or caseworker use and distribution to families regarding service needs across systems.

Participate in assigned duties applying knowledge of ethics and values in day-to-day work on cases

Work with colleagues as part of a team

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Available hours: 30 hours/week

Customer service skills are required

Education open to current Susquehanna University Student.

Experience No experience is required.

Physical Demand

Work is performed off campus. Ability to talk and to hear instruction. Requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach, as well as the occasional sitting, walking, stooping, crouching, and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift 10+ pounds.
