    Job Description

    Looking for an interesting job to help you learn your way around the library? Want to amp up your research skills? Want a job that looks good on your resume? Research and Instructional Services in the Knowledge Center is hiring Peer Research Consultants. We'll train you to use a variety of library resources and tools in order to help your fellow students with their research needs.

    Research Desk Duties

    Peer Research Consultants work with the library staff in offering research support to library users in person, over the phone, and virtually through chat. Special projects may be assigned as well.


    All Peer Research Consultants are thoroughly trained in database searching, chat services, reference skills, and working with library users. No prior library experience needed!

    Required Qualifications

    Must be a student of the University of Nevada, Reno

    Completed ENG 102 with B- or higher

    Customer service or retail experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    Candidates with prior experience tutoring or mentoring in any formal or informal setting, basic research skills, and approval for work study are encouraged to apply.


    This position offers approximately 10-15 hours a week. Hours vary by semester.

    The Research Help Desk Fall hours are Monday-Thursday 1-9PM, Friday 1-6PM, Sunday 1-9PM.
