    Position Summary:

    The Center for Student Success is seeking candidates for two Student Support Coordinator roles.

    This position is housed in the Center for Student Success. The Center for Student Success (CSS) provides students with access to personalized coaching and supplemental advisement with the goal of strengthening their academic performance and promoting student success and retention. CSS services include individual student appointments for academic coaching and/or academic advising, and the facilitation of academic success workshops across campus as well as serves as the primary Advisor to designated cohorts.

    This position will be one of the primary academic advisors for a cohort of Pathway Program students (a provisional cohort of students who must maintain standards to matriculate). The Student Support Coordinator will collaborate with other Student Support Coordinators in the Center for Student Success in advising students, providing and facilitating academic coaching, and teaching orientation seminar courses for students. The Student Support Coordinator is also responsible for providing walk-in coaching and supplemental advising for the campus community, workshop facilitations, and will be cross-trained to provide support to all areas of the CSS. This position will assist in data collection and reporting for all areas of CSS.

    Main Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a primary academic advisor for Pathway Program (formerly Provisional) student cohort.
  • - Advises students in a variety of majors, both one-on-one and group advisement regarding fall and spring courses. - Prepares incoming fall semester schedules, works with students to find appropriate courses based on placement testing and intended major. - Facilitates advising with intended departmental programs for the spring semester. - Coordinates and teaches weekly IDS-96 Orientation Seminar course(s). - Provides supplemental advisement and academic coaching for Provisional students once fully matriculated

  • Researches and implements best practices in academic coaching and student support services.
  • - Uses data to support implementation of practices. - Creates and organizes updated materials. - Teaches colleagues and student workers best practices in order to disseminate updated information.

  • Assists in the preparation of reports, proposals and learning outcomes containing recommendations for the CSS by compiling, summarizing, analyzing, and interpreting statistical program data.
  • Provides support to CSS populations (for example, Undeclared-General, undesignated transitional students, transfer students) as needed, while also serving as a point of contact for walk-in students who need supplemental advising and academic coaching.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communications and cooperative working relationships with the College's administration, academic departments, faculty/staff, to accomplish the goals and objectives of the CSS.
  • Some evening and weekends may be required in order to offer extended hours to students.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities;

  • Ability to collect, analyze, and accurately report data (enrollment trends, matriculation rates, averages, etc).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse population of undergraduate students (and families).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information and work within college policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology (social media, Canvas, PeopleSoft) to promote student welfare and success.
  • Knowledge in advising best practices and academic coaching.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree, masters level, 2-3 years experience.

  • Experience in a previous student-facing role (2-3 years minimum).

  • Experience collaborating with staff, faculty and students.
  • Experience teaching or speaking to large groups of people.
  • Experience in data management.
