Position Information

Under the supervision of the Director of Transfer Initiatives and Professional Development in the Marlan & Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE), this position will be responsible for leading the engineering undergraduate research student success program, connecting students with resources for professional development, establishing relationships with faculty for future opportunities, and developing alumni connections. The incumbent will be responsible for scheduling program events, matching undergraduate students with faculty, managing student timesheets and milestones, advising student on career options, and connecting students to potential graduate degree programs. The coordinator will onboard students, process student training, and support students' preparation for conferences and symposiums. This position will be responsible for data collection and assessment of student professional development outcomes and communicate program results with departments. Finally, this position will require knowledge of various intersecting student identities, and engineering career trajectories.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required Master's degree in related field Preferred

Experience Experience Requirement

4 - 7 years of related experience. Required Experience leading undergraduate researchers or working with engineering undergraduate students. Required Demonstrated experience with leading an academic program. Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge of academic curricula. Multicultural competencies, knowledge and experience working and interacting effectively with diverse groups of staff, faculty, and student populations. Skills in judgment and decision-making. Experienced knowledge of specific learning theory, learning styles, affective issues, academic issues, and socio-cultural/linguistic issues in applying academic support to students. Interpersonal skills. Knowledge of current research and theoretical models that influence the application and delivery of academic services (e.g., discipline specific, student-population specific). Knowledge in designing and implementing learning and pedagogical models. Knowledge of how learning skills issues apply to a research institution. Knowledge of strategies in critical thinking, reading, writing, note taking, test taking, time management, and goal setting. Knowledge of program development, data gathering, assessment, and evaluation skills. Problem solving and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

May require knowledge of NCAA policies, rules, and regulations.

Knowledge of University of California policies and procedures related to this position.
