Midland University, a private, faith-based, liberal arts institution in Fremont, Nebraska (just outside of metro Omaha), is seeking a Student Success Advisor for the Student Success Center. A Student Success Advisor engages in a holistic approach to student involvement, well-being, self- advocacy, academic success and accountability, and degree completion.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop individual relationships and maintain direct contact with students on an ongoing basis to establish personal goals, develop action plans for academic success and accountability, explore educational and career interests, identify barriers to success, and experience an overall positive experience while attending Midland.
  • Closely monitor student success by identifying at-risk situations, as well as opportunities for growth, related to persistence toward graduation.
  • Partnering with faculty and staff to provide, and receive, appropriate information about students regarding academic and personal highlights and/or concerns.
  • Effectively communicate with appropriate entities on campus proactively, and in a timely manner, regarding possible outreach and intervention techniques.
  • Understanding and supporting all student persistence endeavors.
  • Being goal-oriented and driven to achieve institutional benchmarks and departmental goals. Participating in and supporting all key departmental operations, including: strategic planning and program assessment, data tracking and monitoring, proper filing of documentation, and participation in departmental meetings.
  • Qualifications Needed:

  • A bachelor's degree required (master's degree preferred), preferably in a relevant field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to connect and build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Proficiency with basic software programs and applications, such as Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently, and in a team environment
  • Should demonstrate:

  • Effective one on one and long term relationship building skills
  • A positive attitude with a strong work ethic and high level of energy
  • The ability to be flexible and to function efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Compensation:
