    The Monash Graduate Association (MGA) is an independent incorporated body that represents and supports the graduate student community at Monash University. We provide services to over 26,000 graduates across the Victorian campuses of Caulfield, Clayton, Parkville and Peninsula as well as off-campus locations such as the AMREP complex, Law Chambers and the Monash Medical Centre. Our aim is to inspire, support and represent the graduate community and enhance the graduate student experience at Monash University. An opportunity has arisen for an energetic and self-driven person who enjoys travelling for work, delivering exceptional customer service and connecting with students to join our fun, friendly and supportive team and work across all campuses.

    The Role

    The Student Engagement Officer – Parkville and Peninsula is a full-time, two- year fixed-term position based at the Caulfield campus of Monash University. The position reports directly to the Student Engagement Manager. The incumbent will work in collaboration with the Parkville Postgraduate Association (PPA) student group, as well as MGA Campus Representatives to deliver events to all graduate students on both the Parkville and Peninsula campuses. The role involves:

  • Being based with MGA Events staff on Caulfield campus and using a company car to travel to both Parkville and Peninsula campuses
  • Collaborative planning, delivery and OHS compliance of events
  • Developing and strengthening relationships with key internal stakeholders located at both campuses to extend and improve communication and collaboration
  • Liaising with the PPA and graduate students on the respective campuses in order to establish events and activities that meet their needs
  • Promoting the objectives and activities of the MGA at various information sessions including faculty and school inductions
  • The incumbent will be based on Caulfield campus and will be required to visit both Parkville and Peninsula campuses at least one day each per week for meetings and to run events for graduate students.

    Skills and Experience

    Our ideal candidate possesses an optimistic outlook, enthusiasm, diplomacy, resilience and flexibility. The incumbent should be confident to travel alone and work at different locations. You should also have:

  • Work experience in student support and engagement or a combination of relevant training and experience
  • Experience with event planning and management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the confidence and experience to speak at public events
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, including the ability to plan and evaluate activities, set priorities, work independently and perform well under pressure
  • The ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, age groups, cultures and professions
