Summary
The Student Counselor assists students in resolving personal and academic problems that produce emotional stress and adversely affect their educational progress. The position reports to the Associate Dean of Students, Student Counseling and Academic Support.

Education and/or Experience
A Master's Degree in Counseling or Social Work or equivalent from a University or College is required. Must be a Licensed Professional Counselor or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations. Required to have 3-5 years of individual, group/outreach, and crisis intervention experience.
Computer Skills
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
Language Skills
High skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to top management and boards of directors.
Reasoning Ability
High skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Mathematical Ability
Basic skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
