About the job
Interview date: 11 December 2023
We are looking to recruit a flexible, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to take primary responsibility for managing student behaviour in halls of residence, including implementation of Level 1 of the Student Disciplinary Policy.
The Student Behaviour Coordinator will also support the development of new mechanisms in a bid to reduce instances of student ill-discipline and misbehaviour in halls of residence and to develop a more positive response from those students who enter the disciplinary process.
This is an exciting post with the opportunity for the right candidate to help develop and shape our vision of student support in halls of residence. Whilst the post centres around student behaviour management, the right candidate will need to possess emotional intelligence and an empathetic nature; as supporting personal growth and developing emotional resilience in our students is at the heart of everything we do.
This post is subject to a background disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service before any appointment can be confirmed.
To succeed in this post, you will possess good interpersonal skills, the confidence to discuss disciplinary issues with students where required and a commitment to providing a positive student experience.
You will possess good organisation skills needed to cope with a large and varied case load. The post will also require flexibility in your working day and your working hours in order to meet the expectations of our student population.
You will also possess exceptional administration skills and a high level of IT skills, including advanced use of Microsoft office packages.
Working varied hours between Monday-Friday (in agreement with your line manager), you will need to move between our sites throughout Northampton dependent on the demands of our student population and both internal and external stake holders.
During keys times in the year there will also be the need to work some additional hours (evening/weekends).
Our award winning Estates and Campus Services department provides leading services to support the University strategy through the provision, management, maintenance and development of a first class estate, enhancing the student experience and creating an environment that builds and develops our internal and external communities .
The department includes divisions relating to Projects and Capital Development, Maintenance Services, Facilities Services, Security and Community Safety, Catering, Commercial and Events, Safety and Business Continuity, Residential Services and Environment and Sustainability.
Come to the University of Northampton and you will see that we do things a bit differently.
We are one of the youngest universities in the UK but we are already leading the way in adding value to society, which we call social impact. We have won multiple awards for our work in this area, among others, but what matters the most to us is ensuring that our students and graduates have the opportunity to make their mark on the world too. That's why we were the first university in the UK to be named as a Changemaker Campus in 2012.
We want to break the mould of what Higher Education can be. This has led us to build a whole new University from the ground up that is designed to reflect the way that students actually learn rather than the way they are expected to learn. Waterside Campus opened in September 2018.
Our commitment to transforming lives and inspiring change is at the heart of all that we do.
Right to work
All candidates will be asked to provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK at interview.
We welcome applications from underrepresented groups.
