Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Student Assistant in the Pharmacology Department within Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, provide assistance in studies of liver fibrosis and hepatic stellate cell biology.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Perform studies with wild-type and genetically modified mice, including handling, injection, and tissue collection.
  • Perform cell culture studies with human and primary mouse cells.
  • Perform molecular biology techniques, including quantitative polymerase chain reaction, western blotting, and enzyme activity assays.
  • Perform quantitative analysis of histopathology.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive laboratory records.
  • Perform statistical analyses of research data.
  • Analyze and process experimental data for publication and grant application.
  • Participate in training of new lab personnel.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and Experience

  • Completion of undergraduate/graduate degree, or currently enrolled in undergraduate/graduate studies at Rutgers University, with experience in the biomedical science field.
  • Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mouse handling and injection.
  • Equipment Utilized

    Equipment specific to a Pharmacology laboratory.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to work in a lab environment and vivarium facilities.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: Lab environment and vivarium. Moderate Noise, potential allergens present.
