Job Title Student Assistant--MEDIA (Work Study) 2023-2024

General Description

This is a work-study student position responsible for creating, writing, editing, and publishing content to enhance and promote the web and social media presence for the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion.

Job Duties

  • Develop and updating written content for print and web materials
  • Create a social media strategy that collaborates with the goals of ODEI and OMA
  • Compile content for quarterly newsletter for the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
  • Analyze and report social media actions on a monthly basis for successes and new opportunities
  • Stay current with social media trends, tools and applications
  • Assist in creating various designs for events, which includes flyers, t-shirts and giveaway items.
  • Promote social media profiles at events
  • Manage social media campaigns and day-to-day activities (this includes Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok)
  • Monitor online media, information sources and social channels
  • Brainstorm and implement new ways for students to get involved and to attend campus events
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiar with AP Style
  • Able to work on both PC and Mac platforms
  • Proficient in monitoring social media profiles including Facebook, Tik Tok, Twitter and Instagram
  • Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff
  • Proven communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Required Qualifications

  • The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Student must be awarded and accept a “Work-Study Permit” for each semester the student will be working.
  • Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Special Conditions for Eligibility

    A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.

    Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
