The Institute on Race, Power and Political Economy (The Institute) at The New School was founded in 2021 to advance research on structural inequality and identify groundbreaking ways to promote equity. The Institute examines the intersections of race, power, social stratification, and political economy, with the aim of promoting economic and racial justice. In a short time, The Institute has established itself as a prominent research center in this area.
The Student Assistant will work with the Creative Programming Director and under the direction of a renowned Social Justice Museum Director (and faculty member at The New School), to catalog media archives. The archives include films, podcasts, papers, and film memorabilia. The position is great for a student who is interested in social justice film studies and/or those who may be interested in library science and archiving. Other duties may include filmography research.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include cataloging media archives (format will be provided). The archives include films, podcasts, papers, and film memorabilia. Other responsibilities include scanning memorabilia into a digital format.
WorkMode:
On-Campus Position – Employees in this position are expected to work on- campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely.
Hourly Rate: $18 per hour
