Reporting to the Assistant Director of Leadership and Involvement, the Student Ambassador for Leadership Trainings (SALT Leaders) will support the goals of the Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI) office and the division of Student Success within The New School. This position primarily focuses on the development and support of leadership programs and opportunities through the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI).

The Office of Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI) serves all students by providing meaningful, co-curricular experiences to support the educational mission of The New School. Through social, cultural, and educational programs, students develop personal and leadership skills as they become contributing members of our campus community and engaged global citizens.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, present, promote, and facilitate workshops and events around professional and personal development.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of major office leadership events such as the annual Fall and Spring Leadership Retreats, the Annual Spring Student Leadership Awards, and Leadership Trainings facilitated by Division Partners and Student-Led Groups and Organizations.
  • Assist in the marketing plan and promotion of SLI Leadership programs, including review and maintenance of websites and social media accounts. (Examples include but aren't limited to: Narwhal Nation, Instagram, Discord, Email Google Sites).
  • Participate in, uplift, and promote professional and personal development opportunities offered across departments at The New School.
  • The Student Ambassador for Leadership Trainings will also cross-train and work collaboratively with other Student Leadership and Involvement Student Workers and Volunteers to:
  • Assist and staff the in-person and virtual front desk of Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI). This includes but isn't limited to assisting with answering telephones, filing correspondence, movie ticket and event sales, registration for SLI events, and running errands on campus. Triage and support visitors to the office.
  • Welcome and support the on-boarding of new student employees.
  • Serves as support staff and an ambassador for SLI during large-scale community events (i.e. Involvement Fairs, Block Party, Narwhal Spirit Week, Homecoming)
  • Cultivate developmental goals and positional benchmarks with supervisor.
  • Participates in recurring student staff meetings and retreats.
  • Provide a high level of customer service when interacting with students, staff, faculty, community partners, or the general public.
  • Maintain a confidential work environment.
  • WORK MODE

    Hybrid/SplitEmployees hired for this position have regularly scheduled , consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely.

    SALARY RANGE

    $17/hr

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Federal Work-Study Award
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to position self to move, transport, position, install, and remove objects and materials up to 25 pounds in a diverse range of heights.
