The University of Worcester is the West Midlands STEM Ambassador Hub for the Local Authority areas of Birmingham; Solihull; Sandwell; Dudley; Walsall; Wolverhampton; Coventry; Warwickshire; Herefordshire and Worcestershire. We work in collaboration with a wide range of partners and with STEM Learning Ltd across formal and informal education settings, and beyond, to ensure that all young people have the opportunity to understand fully the opportunities and possibilities available to them through pursuing and achieving their STEM subjects.

The Hub has a particular focus on supporting and developing volunteer STEM Ambassadors, collaborating closely with local employers to support STEM Ambassadors and related activities and working with an increasing variety of local organisations to mobilise and further develop the ways in which volunteers are used. A digital platform is central to STEM Learning and HM Government's ambitious vision for STEM Ambassadors to be the vehicle through which the UK is able to meet the challenges around the STEM skills shortage.

The STEM Ambassador Manager will be required to be the main point of contact for STEM Ambassadors, employers and professional institutions in the West Midlands Hub area to provide information and to ensure that the STEM Ambassador programme is promoted and utilised.

They will plan and deliver a range of CPD sessions for STEM Ambassadors, support employers by providing information sessions for new STEM Ambassadors and use the STEM Learning website and database to find STEM Ambassadors to support requests from teachers and others.

They will lead on Hub attendance at STEM Fairs and other external events, collaborating with the Hub team to provide suitable activities.

The role includes writing a monthly newsletter for STEM Ambassadors and other communications as required, including use of social media. They will also contribute to the administration related to this role to achieve KPIs and to contribute to the Hub's monthly reports to STEM Learning.

For informal queries regarding the role please contact Alison Winson, Head of Department Secondary and Post Compulsory Education, by emailing [email protected]
