Position Summary:
Center for Neural Circuit Mapping (CNCM) is an inter/multidisciplinary, neurobiology-based and virology-based Research unit at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) in the School of Medicine (SOM). CNCM aims to support the NIH BRAIN Initiative in understand brain function through neural circuity via education (seminars and conferences), viral core, and cutting edge technology.
Under the direct supervision of the viral core manager, the incumbent will be responsible for culturing, maintaining sterile technique, and the mammalian fixed tissue culture cells. They will be responsible for assisting in propagating and maintaining stock for the viral core and specific grant projects. Viruses are produced in a BLS2+ facility and include: AAV, Herpes, pseudorabies, and Yellow Fever 17D. Also she/he will be responsible for running flow cytometry and FACS sorting of mammalian cells. They will also be participating in wet lab actives (western blot, gel electrophoresis, bacterial culture, PCR). Incumbent will also be responsible for histology in support for the MERscope project. This position is 100%, on site. Select weekends and overtime may be required.
Compensation Range:
$26.93 - $34.17

Required:
1-2 years of benchwork experience, tissue culture or histology experience is not a must but bonus.
