DescriptionThe Strengthening the Architecture for High Quality Universal Pre-K research study at New York University is seeking individuals to support recruitment efforts and data collection efforts in the spring of 2022. The project is being led by Dr. Pamela Morris and Dr. Elise Cappella, and it aims to evaluate how professional supports given to preschool teachers are: 1) improving teachers' classroom practices and 2) fostering children's academic and social-emotional development. Notably, the project is being conducted in the context of New York City's Pre-K for All initiative, a nationally-recognized effort to provide high-quality preschool opportunities to every child in the city. The research project ultimately aims to contribute to education scholarship and to provide New York City's policy leaders with valuable data that will help them strengthen preschool programming across the city.
By working as a research assistant (RA), you will have the opportunity to engage directly in the recruitment and data collection efforts for this project. Here is what the spring position will entail:
RAs will record all correspondence and meetings with pre-K staff and families using Google Drive applications and REDCap. RAs will and meet regularly with NYU project staff and will be given regular feedback on their performance. At the end of the spring, project management will provide a comprehensive performance review. This position is a short-term, part-time opportunity (between 12-20 hours per week), though the exact hours can be discussed on an individual basis. RAs must be available at least three mornings during the business week. This position will span mid-February through June.
