Offer Description

Offer description:

Developing safer battery is the ultimate goal of current research in the field of battery technology. The organic liquid electrolyte used in conventional lithium-ion battery is responsible of most of the fire hazard and thus must be replaced for the development of the electric vehicle. Solid state battery (SSB) are believed to be the ideal solution since the liquid electrolyte will be replaced by a solid state one improving the overall battery safety. Unfortunately, the shaping of the solid electrolyte is not straight forward and deserve a proper investigation. Furthermore, as the sulphide-based electrolytes are suffering some mechanical constraint1, the addition of a binder could help improving this last issue. Solvent-assisted route for processing it is an interesting approach as it could help shaping properly the electrolyte and better dispersed the polymer within the solid state matrix.

Goal:

  • State of the art on solid-state batteries and hybrid solid electrolyte
  • Synthesis of hybrid electrolyte by using solvent-assisted route
  • Electrochemical measurement of the materials to assess the performance of the as-obtained solid electrolytes
  • Characterization of the obtained materials by SEM and XPS analysis
  • Writing elaboration protocols and experimental reports
  • Student profile: We are looking for a Master student with a background in material and/or chemistry. Electrochemical interest/experience is an asset.
