Permanent position, 1.0 FTE.
This is an exciting time to take on a key role shaping the technical direction of the SITS to Cloud migration project supporting a key service used by staff and students across the University. You will work with the Architecture team, the SITS to Cloud project team and other IDG teams to design effective, sustainable, and secure solutions in support of the cloud migration project. The role will work on a range of projects enabling and guiding the design and development of integrated solutions that meet current and future business needs. The role is expected to primarily focus on a range of data and data architecture projects. You will provide technical leadership, guidance and support to colleagues including business analysts, project managers and developers.
You will ensure that existing and planned solution components are compatible with relevant architectures, strategies, policies, principles, standards and practices, working in tandem with the technology delivery teams and business change teams.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leads the development of solution architectures in specific business or functional areas, ensures consistency with agreed requirements and conforms with relevant architectures, policies, principles, standards, and practices.
2. Identifies and evaluates alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance, and scalability. Determines and documents architecturally significant decisions.
3. Produces specifications of cloud-based or on-premises components, tiers, and interfaces, for translation into detailed designs using selected services and products.
4. Provides guidance and risk-based governance to support solution implementation including managing requests for changes and deviations from specifications.
5. Assists with the production of strategic roadmaps showing how the delivery of projects are contributing to the realisation of the future state architecture.

Essential Criteria 1
Production of Solution Architecture designs, with a preference for any of the following: a.Enterprise Resource Planning systems. b.Customer Relationship Management systems. (a, c)

E1 cont: c.Azure Cloud or Amazon Web Services Cloud. d.University/HE systems such as Student Record systems, Teaching and Learning systems. e.Web Content Management systems. (a, c)
Essential Criteria 3
Awareness of designing for cloud-based resilience & security, such as the Azure or the AWS well-architected frameworks. (a, c)
Essential Criteria 4
Some knowledge or an awareness of IT service management frameworks, e.g. ITIL. (a, c)

Good understanding of Information Security management principles and compliance with legislation, regulation, and relevant standards. (a, c)

Selection/procurement of technology and suppliers; use of non-functional requirements. (a, c)
