Software Engineer - Backend and Infrastructure

Your mission : We are recruiting a new Software Engineer to join the Laboratory for Experimental Museology (eM+) development team. eM+ is a new transdisciplinary initiative at the intersection of immersive visualization technologies, visual analytics, aesthetics, and cultural and scientific (big) data. eM+ engages in research from scientific, artistic, and humanistic perspectives and promotes multisensory engagement using experimental platforms. As a software developer, you will participate in the design of systems and installations supporting high-quality and innovative interactive experiences. You will develop the critical components for data processing and manipulation of a large digital content archive (hundreds of TBs of video, media, and 3D file). This includes hardware installation and configuration of the computing cluster, deployment, and development of the services for media data processing.

  • Implementation of distributed systems for big data processing and visualization
  • Interface with real-time immersive visualization systems
  • Hardware Infrastructure installation for the computing cluster
  • Your profile : You have a passion for software development, and an interest in learning and developing new skills in a small and dynamic team.

    You must have:

  • Expertise in software engineering and proficiency in Python, C++ on Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Expertise in distributed systems (e.g Dask distributed, Slurm, Spark) and API deployment
  • Expertise in multi-threaded CPU/GPU computing
  • Experience in data management and databases administration (SQL, NoSQL), sharding, query optimization, etc.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Linux administration
  • Interest in the world of museums, and the development of interactive and immersive systems for public exhibition
  • Team spirit, open-minded and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Fluency in English
  • Nice to have:

  • Experience in computer vision, real-time high-resolution video analysis, and streaming

  • Experience in AI and Python deep learning frameworks (PyTorch preferred)

  • Interest in 3D graphics, Unreal engine, Unity, etc.
  • Interest in immersive systems development, computer clusters, stereographic, spatialized 3D audio rendering
