Responsibilities :
We invite applications for a position at the rank of Instructor with a teaching focus in the area of health, broadly defined, to start in August 2023. Preferred candidates should have expertise in teaching topics in Social Work with a focus in Clinical Sociology. Experience in the topics of Social Work, Social Justice, Welfare Reform, Mental and Physical Health (mental illness, addiction, suicide, grief, substance use) are preferred. Candidates should demonstrate current disciplinary expertise in social problems, racial inequality/stratification, public health and social work, social justice and welfare reform, mental and physical health (mental illness, addiction, suicide, grief, substance use) as well as evidence of effective teaching. The candidate should demonstrate professional contribution and commitment to high quality undergraduate teaching, and engagement in course and curriculum development.
Applicants should articulate how they can contribute to one or more areas of departmental strength in Clinical Sociology. In addition, strong preference will also be given to candidates who can contribute to the department's mission of diversity and inclusion.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach within their area of expertise, assist with advising Sociology majors, provide service to the department, college and/or university and assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Candidates should have an earned MA in Sociology, MSW in Social Work, or another closely related field. Applicants are expected to describe their commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment through their teaching, and/or service activities. Research is not required but encouraged for this position. The starting date for the position is 8-1-2023.
