It is the mission of the Department of Pediatrics, East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, to provide exemplary medical education/training of physicians in pediatric medicine at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, it is the mission of the department to provide model comprehensive primary and consultative subspecialty care to children of eastern North Carolina, to advance scientific knowledge through basic and clinical research, and to provide continuing medical education opportunities for physicians in the region.

Job Duties

The Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for the following duties: • Assisting trial Investigator in screening and enrolling of potential patients for clinical trials • Maintaining case report forms, charts and documentation • Ensuring that all clinical activities are carried out in accordance with established research protocol and standards in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedural requirements • Processing lab samples • Collecting and entering data as necessary • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned • Ability to be flexible with study assignments • Excellent communication and organizational skills • Detail-oriented • Familiarity with the Code of Federal Regulations as they pertain to human subject protection • Strong interpersonal skills • Strong computer skills

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION – NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation

None

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

An understanding of Good Clinical Practice standards and experience with regulatory & IRB submissions will be highly valued. Knowledge of and relevant experience in clinical research preferred. CCRC certification a plus, but not required. Research phlebotomy and EPIC training also preferred. Knowledge and ability to plan, assign, and review work of others preferred.
