Position Summary

The Division of Research within the UNC Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a clinical research specialist to coordinate several projects within the Department. The Department boasts a robust research program, consisting of five full-time research faculty and a team of support staff. This position will support the research faculty in the management of clinical studies and the preparation of grants and manuscripts. Approximately 50% of the position effort will focus on a study funded by the West Health Institute to link malnourished older adults receiving emergency department care to community social services. The West Health Institute is a dynamic and innovative research institute, and this is an important project because it will be one of the first to establish a link between the emergency department and community- based organizations. As the study coordinator for this project, this position will be responsible for all aspects of project management and administration associated with this study. The other 50% effort will be to manage and support research led by other investigators in the Division whose work focuses on a range of subjects including pre-hospital and post-discharge care for patients experiencing acute myocardial infarction. This position will provide project management, administration, data collection, analysis, reporting, and outreach to partners for all mentioned projects. Writing skills, flexibility, and clinical research experience will be prioritized.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

The candidate should have work experience related to emergency medicine research and/or public health research within behavioral health care. Familiarity with research design and execution, project management concepts, and analytics is required.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Master's Degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience.
