Position Summary

The primary purpose of the Social/Clinical Research Specialist – Journey (SCRS-J) position is to organize and coordinate clinical research studies opened via the Children's Oncology Group (COG) consortium for patients in the pediatric or Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) population.

This position will be expected to independently follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and the Code of Federal Regulations (CRF). Given the guidelines of the various protocols, this position will determine the flow of the research studies to meet study goals. The position will have primary responsibility for carrying out study related procedures accurately, for monitoring the safety and well-being of study participants, for ensuring accurate and timely data entry and audit preparations. As the studies evolve, this position will inform the PIs on the best means to achieve maximum efficiency and results per each study and will implement changes as needed.

The Social/Clinical Research Specialist – Journey will on average have primary responsibility for coordination of between 10-20 study participants on Phase 1, 2 or 3 multi-center trials.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Experience involving human participants required.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

At least 2 years of research experience involving human participants – preferably therapeutic, interventional clinical trials. Prefer candidate with relevant clinical or research experience. Prior experience in oncology (either pediatric or adult), bone marrow transplant, or Phase I/II coordination is desirable, as is prior training in the conduct of common research procedures (phlebotomy, vital signs, processing biospecimens). Experience using EPIC, CRMS, IRBIS, and common database applications (REDCap, Excel, RAVE/Medidata, InForm, OnCore) is greatly preferred.
