Position Summary

The research assistant will be responsible for completing transition readiness surveys with young adults transitioning from pediatric to adult care which are part of a large multi-center research project. Upon completion of the transition readiness surveys, the research assistant will coordinate with the pediatric and adult clinics to ensure the patient has appropriate follow up.

The research assistant will also be responsible for completing patient reported outcome measures with patients in the clinic setting and remotely when indicated. Remote assessments of patient reported outcomes and mental health will be emphasized, as we seek to develop a collaborative care model with more remotely based patients, families, and practitioners. The research assistant will work closely with the sickle cell team, including the medical social worker to ensure that psychosocial needs are being met.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Must have the ability to travel between UNC Chapel Hill and various clinical offices including UNC Sanford and Raleigh.

Because travel is an integral part of this position, a valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or health care administration preferred. Interest in Sickle Cell Disease. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Excellent problem solving skills. Highly organized.
