Position Title Small Interactive Group Facilitator (academic year 23/24)

UIW Mission

University of the Incarnate Word is a Catholic institution that welcomes to its community persons of diverse backgrounds, in the belief that their respectful interaction advances the discovery of truth, mutual understanding, self-realization, and the common good.

Position Summary

The University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) educates aspiring physicians to be justice-minded, global citizens using a community-based, distributed model of education, which fosters inclusion, discovery and innovation.

The UIWSOM invites applications for Small Interactive Groups (SIGS) facilitators. Small Group Interactive Sessions (SIGS) are a cornerstone of the first two years of UIWSOM's Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) curriculum. During the first phase (first two years), learners meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8am to noon in small groups along with a faculty process facilitator.

Faculty facilitators guide and evaluate the SIGS process. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to adult learning principles and student-centered learning. In addition, the applicant must successfully complete the SIGS facilitator training program.

This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.
