Position Description Summary/Purpose :

The main purpose of the Simulation Director is to plan, organize and direct the instructional and administrative activities in the Simulation center; provide leadership that will ensure a quality instructional simulation process; meet course learning outcomes and equitable access to space. This individual will utilize their broad experience in simulation methodology for teaching, operational improvement, quality and safety, and leadership skills to create a vision for simulation at Goodwin University for Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

Reviews and recommends guidelines for simulation according to the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practices to ensure a quality evidence-based simulation program for all students in both the ADN and BSN programs.

Collaborate with the Program Director and faculty in the planning and implementation of simulation activities that meet student learning outcomes.

  • Teach 3-6 credits per semester
  • Provide ongoing education and training to students and faculty to maintain their success
  • Participates in the development, planning, recommendation, implementation, and administration of goals and objectives for the simulation center.
  • oversees equipment maintenance schedules and other procedures to ensure the simulation center is running efficiently and effectively.
  • Coordinates assigned instructional and administrative activities with those of other instructional programs and outside agencies and organizations.

  • Manages the supervision and hiring of full-time and part-time faculty in the simulation center.

  • Other Functions :

  • Performs similar, or related work as required, directed or as the situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
  • Knowledge, Ability and Skill :

  • Demonstrated commitment to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and work in an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Previous experience in simulation preferred. Knowledge of multiple healthcare disciplines is a plus.
  • Minimum Required Qualifications :

    Education, Training, and Experience :

  • Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution credentialed to teach in the School of Nursing
  • Three years of college teaching and or simulation experience
  • Active CT RN licensure
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Credentialed as CSHE (certified simulation health educator) or other simulation certifications.
