Position Summary

An opportunity to work as a Shipping and Mail Coordinator is available in the Facilities Planning and Management department at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • efficiently managing the shipping dock and mailroom traffic;
  • operating the loading dock area and equipment;
  • receiving deliveries and mail into the doc;
  • scanning packages for tracking purposes;
  • intake and outtake of mail and mail distribution;
  • managing outbound medical waste and billing;
  • monitoring stock levels;
  • providing facility support when needed in labs, offices and classrooms;
  • acting as first line of customer support for departments, faculty, staff and vendors;
  • answering inquiries either person, by phone, or electronically which includes explaining and clarifying procedures.
  • Throughout the year, additional support is also needed in the Facilities Management Office. Building duties will vary by project.

    Salary Range: $35,000 – $40,000

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills and good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Detailed knowledge and use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Mailroom or loading dock experience
  • Creative problem solving skills are desirable
  • Physical Demands

    The ability to routinely and regularly transport heavy items up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance and up to 3200 pounds with mechanical assistance, pallet jack, is also necessary to perform the job requirements.
