The Banner Senior Systems Analyst II main role is to understand and optimize business processes and actively consult with university professional staff to assist them in becoming more efficient and effective utilizing the Banner ERP system driving student success and administrative operations. This position reports to the Director for Enterprise Applications.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Ellucian Banner functional area processes related to Financial Aid, Finance, Admissions and Registration academic policies and procedures, and be capable of providing quality end-user consultation and support. Knowledge in one or more of these specific Banner functional areas is desired.
  • Working knowledge of the Ellucian Banner ERP functional/technical environment.
  • Ability to facilitate business process review and application prototyping sessions as well as provide business process analysis and insight into best practice methodologies.
  • Evaluate and adjust where appropriate, the Ellucian Banner setup tables relative to the client business practices.
  • Provide Leadership and Insight for functional work groups enabling them to stay on time and on task in their administrative responsibilities.
  • Collaborate and consult with supervisor, systems analysts, programmers, and end users to develop functional design specifications and gather information about program intent, functions, features; data requirements, input requirements and output requirements; internal and external checks and controls; hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, training, and support.
  • Prepare functional design specifications for conversion, upgrades, patches, reporting, interfaces, and customizations for Banner modules and associated applications.
  • Provide guidance in the formulation and coordination of an end-user training strategy, and when appropriate, developing and delivering such training for onboarding.
  • Provide strong leadership in developing testing methodologies and test scripts for utilization during upgrades and patch application; confirming program meets specifications, obtaining client signoff of efforts.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and be a self-starter with a can-do attitude.
  • Work with end users to understand business processes with UNE procedures
  • Help end users become more efficient and effective utilizing the Ellucian ERP system.
  • Analyze code to find causes of errors and revising programs.
  • Author documentation of changes to computer code, programs, and specifications.
  • Design and code layouts for onscreen user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems.
  • Review user and technical documentation written by others to confirm consistency with program operations.
  • Providing functional/technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with programs. Escalate errors to appropriate teams for resolution.
  • Revise program for corrections, enhancements, or system environment changes through accepted project management processes.
  • Maintain and support integrations between the Banner system and a variety of ancillary/3rd party systems that are needed for University operations
  • Identify and make team members aware of the dependency requirements of the multiple Banner modules and integrated 3rd-party systems for potential upgrades and potential new 3rd-party system inclusions.
  • Provide assistance to convert designs and specifications into computer code.
  • Coordinates activities with co-workers, keeps abreast of and follows all departmental and company procedures.

  • Qualifications

    A Bachelor's Degree or 5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Deep knowledge of Ellucian Banner Student, Financial Aid and Accounts Receivables modules.
  • Deep Knowledge and experience with Ellucian Banner Security.
  • Experience working with a broad range of institutional administrators including vice presidents, deans, directors and end users.
  • Knowledge and experience with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and other reporting tools.
  • Knowledge and experience with Evisions, Cognos, FormFusion, and IntelleCheck.
  • High degree of creativity and professionalism with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Able to set and manage changing priorities amongst multiple competing constituencies, projects and resources.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of University personnel, students and/or outside individuals/organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to gain and keep client trust.
  • Preferred Experience:

  • Technical experience with Ellucian Ethos, Degree Works, and Ellucian Banner highly desired.
  • Technical experience with the Automic automation system.
  • Experience with Document Management systems such as Hyland.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and provide leadership and direction for the implementation process.
  • Ability to work closely with team members and/or alone.
  • Functional and/or technical knowledge of the Banner Human Resources module.
  • Functional and/or technical knowledge of the Banner Finance module.
