  • About This Opportunity

    We are seeking a Senior Research Assistant provides technical research support and subject matter expertise in support of fieldwork and reporting of NHMRC- funded projects in child oral health.

    Population Oral Health at UQ is supported by a UQ VC Strategic Funding and a number of NHMRC research grants to conduct high quality population oral health research.

    Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and assisting with aspects of participants recruitment and assessment.
  • Assisting in the development of research materials, under supervision of Chief Investigators.
  • Communicating and organising research visits with participants and their families.
  • Liaising with examination teams at Queensland Health to facilitate sample and data collection.
  • Contributing to the safe and efficient operation of research equipment, infrastructure, methodologies and protocols.
  • Ensuring the appropriate storage, handling of data, and protection of confidentiality of participant information.
  • Assisting with drafting research reports, newsletters, preparing for presentations at seminars and conferences.
  • Assisting in arranging project team meetings and taking minutes at meetings.
  • Undertaking literature searches and reviews, and writing up literature reviews.
  • This role is subject to The University's Code of Conduct.

    About You

  • Completion of a degree level qualification in oral health, public health, or other related field.
  • Excellent practical research skills and experience in relevant research methodology or techniques required for this body of research.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Well-organised, methodical and self-motivated.
  • Experience using MS Office suite, as well as analytical software.
  • Ability to work bot collaboratively with colleagues and work independently on routine procedures.

    This is a part-time (60%) fixed-term position through 31 December 2023 at HEW level 5.

    The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $72,212 - $80,430 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $84,488 - $94,103 per annum.
