We are seeking a diligent and organized Senior Research Administration Officer to support the full research life cycle at the Australian Centre for Water and Environmental Biotechnology (ACWEB). This position will work closely with the Deputy Director of Research, the operations team and the executive to be the point of contact on research administration and impact assessment.
Key responsibilities will include:
Research Advisory
Acts as a point of contact and source of advice on all aspects of research administration, as relevant to the specific role, including:
Research performance and grants, including grants administration processes and requirements.
Using research-related online submissions and application systems and software.
Ethics applications processes and administrative requirements.
Partnership processes, including establishing a project account and other administrative and financial requirements.
Post-award administration of successful grants.
Research publication processes, including digital recording in Library systems.
UQ research-related policies and procedures and any changes or updates.
Coordinate internal and external funding schemes involving preparation of checklists for review of eligibility and compliance, provision of feedback on applications, and submission of applications by external deadlines.
Assist researchers in the identification of opportunities, both in terms of advocacy and funding, for the advancement and sustainability of activities.
Administer/coordinate internal and external research funding application processes.
Assist academic staff with research grants/contract budget preparation.
Administer grants across the research lifecycle, such as progress and final reports, grant establishment, account establishment and other post- award matters.
With Finance staff, assist academic staff with research grants and contract budget preparation.
Provide support in scoping and preparing for research grant applications, including research data management tasks and industry collaborations.
Undertake on-going review of policies and processes to ensure that they reflect current grant regulations.
Coordinate and assist with development of research grant applications.
Liaise with key sections of the University such as Human Resources, Finance and Business Services and School/Centre/Institute financial managers concerning research grant management.
Maintain research-related databases, records and electronic documentation and ensure completeness and accuracy of research data on central UQ databases.
Produce regular research performance reports and data information as required.
Organise and coordinate research seminars, workshops and research days across a variety of research-related topics.
Source and disseminate information on relevant internal and external research funding opportunities to academic staff and students.
Assist with the maintenance of research web pages and ensure that academic staff research profiles on the website and UQ Researchers are visible and current.
Assist in the promotion of research activity on websites and events.
Establish strong and effective networks across UQ to develop consistent approaches to research administration.
This is a part-time (60%), fixed-term position for up to 1 year.
At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $84,871.95 - $91,158.90, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $99,300.18 - $106,655.91 annually.
About YouA degree with subsequent relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Experience in research administration with a sound knowledge of research policies and procedures or the demonstrated capacity to rapidly gain that knowledge.
Advanced skills in the use of computer applications for word-processing, data storage and retrieval, and spreadsheets.
Experience with using University reporting systems such as Business Objects and granting body systems such as RMS and RGMS.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to produce reports and scientific communications, including social media, with excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues internal and external to the University including professional, academic staff and industry professionals engaged in research.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team or independently as necessary and exercise judgement and initiative.
Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of global water industry would be considered an advantage.
