I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The GW School of Business cultivates ethical, inclusive, and entrepreneurial leaders that make a positive impact on the environment, society, and governance locally and globally through market-responsive lifelong learning programs, innovative research, and outreach to the business and policy community. In support of this mission, GW Business seeks a Senior Multimedia Producer to advance the School of Business by working collaboratively within the school and across the university to elevate the academic reputation, enrollment efforts, alumni engagement, research enterprise, and connect the GW Business community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni with high-quality information and experiences. The school is seeking to add a new team member with a passion for making an impact through their career.

The primary focus of this position is to advance the school of business by enhancing the strategy and implementation of integrated marketing and communications through visuals (graphics and video) – working collaboratively with the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Senior Digital Marketing Specialist, and other colleagues to achieve departmental goals. Core relationships within the school include colleagues across departmental leadership, Graduate Admissions, student-facing roles, and Development and Alumni Relations. Within the university, this role collaborates with GW Creative Services and GW Advertising, and other departments working directly with students, including but not limited to GW Veterans Affairs, Multicultural Student Services Center, and the Office of Study Abroad and International Student Services to produce visual storytelling.

The position may directly supervise up to two student workers specializing in content creation and provides strategic leadership associated with the creation of marketing deliverables used in print, web, and multimedia applications throughout the school of business. The role performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Strategizes and executes on a timeline, co-managing the content calendar, collaborating with team members managing social media, web, and other paid, earned, and owned mediums.
  • Plans and implements through visual storytelling that engages key internal and external audiences, creating and amplifying authentic and inclusive brand-reaffirming messages and thought leadership.
  • Manages software and digital filing/ sharing of content through but not limited to Adobe, Apple, PlayPlay, Cinebody, Canva, Marq, Google, and Microsoft – and recommends other software and equipment as needed.
  • Measures outcomes to determine future creative direction, strategy, and tactics shifts.
  • Oversees or collaborates with student workers/ interns working on graphic design, content capture and editing, communications, and multimedia to achieve the department's goals.
  • On occasion, may capture content with school equipment (photo, video, audio) to leverage in their content production.
  • Follows the AP Style Guide and the GW Brand Guide, integrates brand personality as appropriate, and manages permissions for displaying personas in the content.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Strong organizational and operational skills to oversee and complete multiple complex projects working in parallel.
  • Experience in marketing and communications in higher education is a plus.
  • Able to interact effectively with a diverse population at all levels, facilitate decision making and maintain a positive and constructive demeanor treating all staff, students, faculty, alumni, and vendors with professionalism, courtesy, and respect.
  • Exceptional judgment and demonstrated background in producing content across audiences and platforms, highly organized management skills, and polished and inclusive communication style across audiences.
  • A background in marketing and communications leveraging digital marketing tools and software to amplify authentic messaging and storytelling that is informative and/or persuasive.
  • Perform in a hybrid position located within the GW School of Business in Washington, D.C., just two blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro (Orange, Silver, Blue), and collaborate with the GW Marketing and Communications team located a few blocks away in “Western Market” at 2000 Pennsylvania Ave.
