    The Opportunity

    The Senior Manager of Legal Services – Commercial and Property is a senior legal liaison within the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), focusing on the commercial and property legal stream. As the Senior Manager you will play a pivotal role in providing specialised legal advice and services aligned with best practice and tailored to meet clients needs. You will work closely supporting the Director, Commercial and Property to ensure the delivery of top tier legal support.

    The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is the central office within the University to deal with legal issues. The Commercial & Property stream supports the University's critical infrastructure in terms of property and construction, significant commercial transactions, and IT procurement initiatives.

    As the successful candidate you will:

  • Provide top-tier legal advice, research and document preparation to address legal issues promptly and accurately
  • Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements, contracts and other legal documents
  • Ensure the provision of effective negotiation, transaction and project management support to relevant business units, and higher management
  • Build and sustain relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders, leveraging these connections to facilitate cooperation and deliver services aligned with client needs
  • Support the development and implementation of initiatives, service delivery model enhancements and innovative solutions to improve the effective operation of the OGC and strategic delivery of legal services to clients
  • Provide leadership and guidance to colleagues both within the OGC and external to the OGC, as appropriate
  • About you

    To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be a qualified legal practitioner with at least ten years' post admission experience in a legal practice setting
  • Enjoy working in a complex environment managing a busy portfolio of high- quality legal advice and services in the area of commercial and/or property law
  • Have a proven ability to work autonomously and proactively to manage complex legal matters, taking ownership of outcomes and resolutions to issues, working within tight timeframes and in an extremely fast-paced, multi-faceted environment
  • Have exceptional communication skills, the ability to be highly adaptable and strong leadership capabilities
