  • About You

    The Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering is responsible for leading and managing the strategy, roadmaps, governance, patterns, reporting, solution designs, finance operations, operational health, security compliance (including any vulnerabilities and risk Management) and analysis of RMIT Cloud Platforms (including AWS, Azure and VMware).

    The cloud infrastructure platform is crucial in providing an exemplary staff and student experience and in supporting RMIT as a university of technology. This key role provides technical and thought leadership, setting the Cloud platform direction, and developing product roadmaps that are operationally and strategically in alignment with enterprise strategy.

    At an operational level, the role requires the mobilisation and management of cloud platform practices and governance to ensure a scalable, robust, secure, reliable and operationally efficient infrastructure platform is delivered and maintained within the allocated budget.

    The role also provides guidance and input into Cloud Governance Standards and framework.

    To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  • 10 years of IT experience, with a minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Cloud Engineer or Cloud Manager (AWS or Azure), within a medium to large sized business.
  • Extensive and demonstrable experience in strategically managing Cloud platforms (AWS and Azure).
  • Demonstrated experience in operationally managing and maintaining large scale cloud solutions.
  • Demonstrated high level of effective team management, with experience in agile processes.
  • Proven experience in Building High Performing teams with a positive, collaborative culture.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing technology roadmaps aligned to enterprise strategy and operational metrics and platform practices in large, complex enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with analytical skills that show experience in financial planning, roadmaps and developing strategies.
  • Adept at handling multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership and communication skills that enable the building of relationships with people across all levels and organizations, internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate and prioritise effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to show high level quality of customer service and management.
