Salary - £40,931- £51,805 pro rata

This is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Health and Social Care Professions at our vibrant High Wycombe, Aylesbury and Uxbridge campuses with potential to teach across all of our campuses.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join a dynamic and highly skilled teaching team within the Social Work team in the School of health care and Social Work.

Role Responsibilities: You will be involved in the delivery of academic Social Work and Integrated Social Care courses and modules. You will also contribute to the support of social work students and apprentice learners whilst on practice placement.

Applicants: You will be a qualified and registered social worker with excellent academic and professional qualifications and have an excellent understanding of teaching within a Higher Education setting. You will have significant knowledge in one of the following areas: child protection; safeguarding vulnerable adults; mental health; therapeutic interventions or substance misuse. You will also have knowledge of Social Work curriculum initiatives. Applicants will demonstrate an ability to work within a team and have excellent communications skills. A Masters level qualification is essential for the SL role and a PhD in a relevant area is desirable.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Job Title: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Social Work & Integrated Care

    School: Health Care and Social Work

    Grade: AC2/AC3

    Location: High Wycombe Campus (and potentially Uxbridge and Aylesbury)

    Responsible to: Associate Head of School

    Job Purpose:

  • To teach and support social work students on both the undergraduate and the postgraduate degree in Social Work Programmes, and on the post- qualifying social work programmes.
  • To provide advice and tutorial support to students undertaking practice learning placements
  • To contribute towards curriculum development, research and other forms of scholarly activity and have a commitment to the University's strategic goals as outlined in the strategic plan.
  • To work in partnership with colleagues and contribute to the wider work of the department.
  • Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

  • To design and deliver high quality, innovative and challenging learning experiences, drawing on current social work theory and practice evidence.
  • To undertake associated activities in connection with the courses taught including module leadership, curriculum development, personal tutoring, recruitment, assessment, review and evaluation.
  • To contribute to the student experience – demonstrating an awareness of the need for ‘customer focus' in respect of resolving issues.
  • To conduct research and scholarly activity of relevance to the lecturing role and / or professional practice and aligns own research with teaching and learning.
  • To engage with business and professional networks to promote teaching and learning and research in a professional context.
  • To contribute to open days, school, college and partnership links and the promotional work of the department.
  • To support students in supervising placements, learning in practice, internships and work-related activities.
  • To deliver pastoral care and project supervision of students.
  • To plan and deliver the curriculum using appropriate media, including the use of IT.
  • To provide effective feedback, support and guidance to students, which promotes improvement of performance.
  • To engage in professional development activities (e.g. CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to teaching, learning and assessment.
  • To maintain and foster the high reputation of the University in practice partner settings.
