    Discipline of Nursing

    The Discipline of Nursing offers programs that prepare students for diverse and complex healthcare environments, the teaching is underpinned by a culture of academic excellence, innovative research, clinical practice and strong community partnerships. A Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Mental Health Nursing, Graduate Diploma Child and Family Health Nursing and Research Higher Degrees are offered.

    About the Role

    As the Senior Lecturer, you will contribute to the teaching, scholarship, research and industry engagement efforts of the School in the Discipline of Nursing. More specifically, you will be responsible for teaching activities in an area related to your expertise of acute care, disability, or aged care nursing in the undergraduate program. This role will also see you:

  • Maintain and continue to advance your scholarly, professional and/or research capabilities

  • Actively promoting the program by establishing and maintaining industry engagement, memberships, links and partnerships with academic, and professional communities

  • Working collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in your subject area/specialization

  • Being responsible for course coordination.

  • To be successful for this position, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate large courses and prepare and deliver courses at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including high quality curriculum and program materials in acute care, disability, or aged care and ability to implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to support student issues related to effective learning and liaise with clinical agencies to support student learning and problem solve.

  • Emerging nationally recognised research track record including substantial record of research outputs in high quality outlets.

  • Experience in research leadership with the ability to build and develop collaborative research teams, mentor academic staff to deliver high quality outcomes, attract and secure external research funding to sustain research effort and manage funded research projects.

  • Emerging experience in supervising higher degree by research candidates to maximise research performance.

  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills including the ability to build effective networks with colleagues and external agencies to generate clinical placements for RMIT students.

  • Qualifications

    Mandatory for Senior Lecturer – Level C

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia as a Registered Nurse.

  • PhD in related field or approved AQF equivalency with relevant industry experience

  • Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
