Salary - £40,931- £51,805 + London Wage Allowance £2,776.88

This is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Health Care and Social Work at our Uxbridge campus with potential to teach across all of our campuses. We are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join a dynamic and highly skilled teaching team.

The successful candidate will be involved in the delivery of academic Social Work courses and modules (primarily apprentices in Uxbridge). You will also contribute to the support of social work degree apprentices whilst on work based learning

Candidates will need to be a qualified and registered social worker with excellent academic and professional qualifications and have an excellent understanding of teaching within a Higher Education setting. You will have significant knowledge in one of the following areas: child protection; safeguarding vulnerable adults; mental health; therapeutic interventions or substance misuse. You will also have knowledge of Social Work curriculum initiatives. Applicants will demonstrate an ability to work within a team and have excellent communications skills.

    Job Purpose:

  • To teach and support students by adopting a learner-centred approach, delivering a first-class student experience.
  • To undertake research, professional practice and enterprise activity as outlined within the Bucks Academic Framework
  • To be a team-player and contribute to the wider work of the School and University
  • Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

    Education:

  • To undertake research-informed teaching in the subject discipline managing all aspects of curriculum delivery and the associated student experience to the highest standards in accordance with the University's requirements and the TEF.
  • To undertake associated activities in connection with the courses taught including: personal tutoring; student recruitment; assessment, review and evaluation.
  • To achieve student satisfaction – demonstrating a commitment to ‘customer focus' and contributing to the achievement of strong NSS results.
  • Demonstrate inclusive practice in curriculum design and delivery. Work to eliminate attainment gaps.
  • To contribute to Open Days, school, college and partnership links and the marketing and promotional work of the Department and/or School.
  • To support students in supervising placements, learning in practice, internships and work-related activities.
  • To deliver pastoral care to, and project supervision of, students.
  • To plan and deliver the curriculum using appropriate media, including the use of Digital technologies.
  • To provide effective feedback, support and guidance to students, which promotes improvement of performance.
  • To engage in professional development activities (e.g. CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Research and Professional Practice:

  • To conduct research and scholarly activity of relevance to the lecturing role and/or area of professional practice and aligns own research with their teaching and learning
  • To engage with relevant business and professional networks to promote teaching and learning and research in a professional context.
  • To engage in professional development activities (e.g. CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to research, enterprise and/or the relevant profession.
  • To maintain and foster the high reputation of the University in practice partner settings.
  • To contribute to the REF and KEF and to internal and external research and enterprise strategies, as applicable.
  • Leadership and Management:

  • Demonstrate involvement in the support and development of Graduate Teaching Associates, contributing to the recruitment and mentoring of new colleagues, as appropriate.
  • To promote the University values within the academic community.

  • Liaison and Networking:

  • Participate in relevant internal and external networks
  • Promote and market the work of the University in the subject area.
