About the Role

The Senior Lecturer Health and Physical Education will be at the forefront of Health and Physical Education in Australia with a strong international profile. They will make effective contributions to teaching and learning, research and scholarship, engagement, leadership and service within MGSE. The successful applicant will have expertise in primary education and secondary education with the capacity to address issues associated with Health, Physical Education and Sport across the lifespan.

As a teacher in MGSE, the Senior Lecturer Health and Physical Education will be responsible for teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and will be involved with subject development (including the development of online pedagogies) and subject coordination.

Responsibilities include:

  • Making significant contributions to the leadership, design, coordination and implementation of subjects and courses related to Health, Physical Education and Sport
  • Initiating and leading programs of research and research teams connected with Health, Physical Education and Sport
  • Engaging with and contribute to national and international scholarly networks
  • About You You will have extensive experience and an excellence in teaching at a university level, able to make significant contributions to subject and course development. You have the demonstrated ability to apply for and achieve competitive grant applications, along with other succeeding with other means of securing external research funding. You strong interpersonal and communication skills enable you to provide supervision to graduate research students, and you have a record of successful completions.

    You will also have:

  • A PhD or professional doctorate in a relevant area
  • Qualifications that meet requirements for professional registration as a teacher
  • Demonstrated capacity to contribute to research in Health and Physical Education through the development of research projects, acquisition of funding, and publication of findings in relevant leading outlets
  • An excellent record in teaching at university level within Health and Physical Education and Sports Studies, including the ability to make significant contributions to subject and course development incorporating blended and online learning, undertake subject coordination duties and provide specialised support to students on placement
  • To ensure the University continues to provide a safe environment for everyone, this position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check.
